1. How do I qualify?
1st you MUST have participated in a recovery program for PTSD, and have made a committment to an aftercare program. (Green level participation is adequate).
There are other requirements that are progressive and attainable that we will discuss at the appropriate time.
2. Will I be involved in training? YES. We will set a schedule that works for you. We want your team to succeed.
3. Is there a cost? Yes. We understand finances are personal and private, so we will discuss that with you privately. There are several methods of payment. There may even be grants available.
4. What if I have to surrender the dog? It can go to your secondary handler or be returned to one of our trainers.
5. Does my dog have to wear a vest in public? No. You will be provided with one along with a variety of badges that you can apply based on your activity.
6. What training will my dog have? Your Good Day Canine Partner will be titled in the basics. Those basics will mean they are reliable in public with rock solid behaviour. They will be indifferent to being approached by strangers. This leaves you open to engage with people on your terms at your comfort level.
Additional training be be tailored to your specific needs.
7. Will you train a dog I already own? It is open to discussion.
8. How long does the training take? After you complete your program you will be taking steps to successfully put your life in order as well as participating in aftercare - (12 step program is acceptable). During this time we will be doing the training.
Typically the time frame is 9-12 months.
